Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Web 2.0 Art!

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. First Baptist Church of Oak Park Preschool and Kindergarten after school art students created these Tagxedo art images of Dr. King, Jr. Tagxedo is a free online Web 2.0 word cloud tool, similar to Wordle. For my students to create these Dr. King, Jr Tagxedos I reduced an image of Dr. King, Jr. in Photoshop to black and white shape and imported it into Tagxedo. My students researched Dr. King, Jr. online and wrote about him in a Word document and then pasted what they wrote into the Tagxedo Dr. King, Jr. image. They enjoyed finding the compositions they liked by rotating the words and choosing the font and color schemes.

Tagxedo comes with a menu of shapes to choose from and has the option of importing your own shapes and images. It takes a little trial and error to use your own images that work with program. This worked out great for the students' Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tagxedos!
